Union Membership​

 

The GMB Trade Union has a long-standing relationship with Simpsons Solicitors who have a team of expert personal injury and employment lawyers who have successfully represented members and their families for many years. If you are a member of the GMB Trade Union then you are entitled to legal assistance covered by your GMB membership from Simpsons Solicitors, via the GMB’s Legal Services, Unionline.​

No-win, no fee (Personal Injury / Occupational Illness claims only)

 

This means that you only ever pay the costs of your claim if the claim is successful. If you win
your claim, it is usually the case that the opposing side will pay the majority of the costs of
pursuing the claim, and, depending on the type of claim, a capped “success fee” may be
charged on the compensation you have received. An assessment on the likely prospects of
success in your claim will be made by one of our specialists and an assessment of the
success fee that will be charged will be made at the commencement of your claim, and full
details provided to you.

 

Fixed fees

Depending on the nature of the work that is required, we can offer a fixed fee for pursuing a
case for you. If this option is available for your claim, we will discuss this with you.

 

Legal expenses insurance

 

You may be covered for legal expenses on an existing insurance policy you have, such as a
home insurance policy, or a car insurance policy, for example. We can check this with you at
the outset of your claim.

Private funding

You can choose to pay the costs of the claim directly. If you opt for this course of action, then
we would ask for an upfront payment towards costs and disbursements, and will thereafter
invoice you at regular intervals As with all law firms, an hourly rate is charged, and this will vary depending on the seniority of the individual case handler dealing with the case. Work done is charged in units of 6 minutes, i.e. 1 hour is made up of 10 x 6-minute units).
